The Human Rights Campaign in China(HRCC) was founded in October of 2008. Its founders were volunteers who had come together from a variety of different fields to advocate on behalf of individuals at the lowest rungs of Chinese society who lack the political and social power to defend themselves. Its members operate on the front lines of human rights advocacy in China, and in the process have undergone secret abduction, illegal detention, physical abuse and unjust prison sentences.
Since its inception,The Human Rights Campaign has worked on 1,600 different abuse cases, and has distributed 2,300 different articles about human rights in China, an average of 2.2 per day. Distributed material covers the full spectrum of human rights issues in China, including: forced evictions, illegal appropriation of land, judical corruption, police violence, the rights of AIDS victims, environmental protection, secret prisons, illegal detention, and covers activities in all 28 Chinese provinces and autonomous municipalities.
The Human Rights Campaign in China since its inception has strictly adhered to the principle of nonviolent resistance and conflict resolution tactics to bring about social change. Though three of the organization's original founding members have served prison sentences for their human rights activities, government persecution has only strengthened the resolve of Human Rights Campaign volunteers to continue to demonstrate for social justice. We are resolved to continue our struggle to attain equal rights for all.
